Last week, I had the pleasure of taking Sweet 16 photos of Lundy! We have known Lundy since she was 4 years old. She and Jayde met on the playground at Christian Life Academy and became great friends! Lucky for me, her family was lovely and her mom Kara and I hit it off right away! We kept in touch over the years (even have 2nd kids that are the same age!) even after both girls left CLA. Kara makes some of the best donuts and cinnamon rolls in Baton Rouge at Thee Heavenly Donut and the service at all of their locations is top notch, so you can catch us there often.
In honor of Lundy's 16th Birthday, I'll share some advice that's been given to Jayde from the women in her life:
- Put God first. All things are possible with him. Glorify him always.
- It is always better to give than to receive. Be a blessing to others.
- Respect yourself and others. We all make mistakes, but remember that some mistakes have permanent consequences. You don't always get a do-over.
- Talk to your parents. About anything. They have been your age before. There isn't anything you can't get through together.
- Listen to your heart when making tough decisions.
- Surround yourself with positive people who respect themselves, others and you.
- Do not try to keep up with what others do or have. Know that you are your only competition.
- Always follow your heart and passions. Your passion will bring you success and joy.
- Let little sister in your room and in your life. No one will ever love you more.
- Put your phone away around your grandparents.
- Your mom is always right, even when she's wrong.
- Heels are pretty but jacked up toes are not. Protect your feet!
- Trust yourself!
- Never allow anyone to steal your joy.
- Strive every day to be your best self.
I love the advice that the women in Jayde's life have shared with her. I hope that they resonate with you.
