I am so blessed to have grown up with an older brother. He is the one person in this world other than our parents who has known me my whole life and experienced my childhood with me (the good, the bad, and the ugly). He often protected me and always had my back. For the longest, I thought one child was enough for me, but as Jayde got older, I realized having a second child meant that she would have someone to help her care for us in our old age and someone who would love her as much (or more) than Orlando and I do and I'm so glad that we were blessed to have 2 girls. They fight and aggravate the heck out of each other, but the minute one of them is hurt, they are there wanting to make the other feel better and they love one another like only sisters can. There's sibling rivalry and only children get along just fine, but count your blessing if you have a sibling and make the most of this special relationship and bond.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of shooting a beautiful family at the home they grew up in. It was awesome to witness the love and care they had for one another and for the queen of the family. There were laughs and smiles and very few complaints about the 100+ degree weather we were shooting in. Everyone was happy to be with one another and have the opportunity to capture their bond on camera.
Families change quickly. Families grow as new love and new life enters, sometimes family members are lost, and we all change as the years pass by. I didn't understand how much I would value photos until I grew older. I am grateful for the photos I have of loved ones no longer with us, I treasure being able to look back at pictures when we get together with family and friends and talk about the good times we've had and the memories that we were able to capture and always look for opportunities to create more.
It is always an honor to be asked to take family photos because I know that I'm giving families a gift that will hopefully last for generations! I know that we live in a digital age, but print your photos, store them safely and share them every chance you get! And if you haven't taken family photos in over a year, book with me now! Let's get you in front of my camera!
fun. hugs. love.
